ICL appoints two new highly qualified Technical Area Sales Managers

Due to continued growth and internal promotions, ICL continues to strengthen its technical team appointing two talented and well-qualified new Technical Area Sales Manager - Chloe Whiteside (East Anglia) and Stephen Briggs (Northern Home Counties).

Chloe Whiteside joins ICL from ADAS.  A graduate of Portsmouth University, she joined ADAS in 2011 and has spent the last 8 years as a Trials Manager in the horticultural team - predominantly focusing on the bedding, HNS and cut flowers sectors.

Alongside research into plant physiological disorders and weed control, Chloe is well known for her industry leading work for the Defra/AHDB/Industry funded research project ‘Transition to responsibly sourced growing media use in UK horticulture’ (CP138) – a 5-year project in which ICL was an industry stakeholder.

As Trials Manager for the Bedding and Pot Plant Centre project, she has considerable practical experience working with wide ranging plant species on UK nurseries.

“Chloe’s knowledge and experience will be a huge asset to our continued development of the Levington Advance Sustain range and our move to sustainable raw materials,” says ICL’s sales manager Adrian Thirtle-Watts.  “BASIS qualified she has plenty of practical experience using our Osmocote controlled release fertilizers in her trials work.”

Appointed ICL Technical Area Sales Manager for East Anglia, Chloe replaces Stuart Gammage, recently promoted to Technical Manager for Growing Media for the UK & Ireland.

Well qualified and with good practical growing experience, Stephen Briggs joins ICL from leading CNS producer - Joseph Rochford Gardens.

A horticultural graduate, Stephen studyed at Moulton College and Nottingham Trent University before joining Joseph Rochford Gardens in 2018 - quickly progressing to Assistant Nursery Manager.

He has plenty of hands-on experience working with ICL Levington Advance Solutions peat-reduced growing media, containing premixed Osmocote, for potting plugs into 2 litre pots - right up to large rootball trees into 150 litre pots.

With practical experience of ICL’s plant protection products, Stephen is particularly interested in the potential offered by biostimulants and researched three novel products for his university dissertation.

“With wide range practical HNS growing experience, Stephen is a strong advocate for peat-reduction and will be applying this knowledge to help growers maximise the potential of ICL’s sustainable Levington Advance growing media,” says Adrian.

“Well placed to advise on Osmocote, Universol and Peters water soluble products, he has a genuine interest in our new ground-breaking controls and biostimulant products - developed in conjunction with industry leaders such as Syngenta, BASF, Lallemand and Alltech.”

“Both highly qualified, Chloe and Stephen have plenty of practical hands-on growing experience, using ICL products, and are passionate about the industry - we’re delighted to welcome them to our technical team,” says Adrian.
