Topical line-up for first Hort Science Online
ICL’s first digital Hort Science Online event – 21 September 2020 - will feature topical subjects including woodfibre and the future of growing media, protecting against black vine weevil in the post-Exemptor era and expanding the grower plant health toolbox with biostimulants.
The first in this series of three Hort Science Online events planned for this year, it will feature six interactive workstations with participants able to ask questions remotely.
Workstations for Hort Science Online 1
1. ICL’s Dr Eleni Siasou will explain the properties of woodfibre and how to manage it.
2. ICL technical manager Andrew Wilson will look at optimizing plant nutrition in peat reduced or peat free growing media.
3. Defra’s Matthew Casey will provide a valuable update on plant passporting
4. Dr Mariella Marzano - of Forest Research - will provide an insight into new social science research on biosecurity on the nursery.
5. ICL's Marting Donnelly and Sam Rivers discuss new product developments include a presentation on ICL’s recently launched Vitalnoval Nursery range and how the can be a great addition to a growers plant health toolbox.
6. The experts from BASF join with Sam Rivers from ICL to explain how to optimise black vine weevil control using nematodes.
“Hort Science Online has replaced our popular annual Hort Science Live event,” explains Adam Ferjani, ICL’s Marketing Communications Manager. “It will continue to provide professional growers, advisors and horticultural students with the opportunity to hear from industry influencers re new high-tech product innovations and practices - with the key aim of helping them prepare for the coming season, in whatever form it takes.”
“Moving to an online format has given us the opportunity to expand Hort Science Online, with a further two events scheduled over the autumn/winter period. Participants will have the flexibility to access each event over a three-week period and, as before, will qualify for BASIS CPD points.”
The first Hort Science Online event will be available to access online from 9am on 21 Sept 2020.
