Banana

Banana is an herbaceous perennial, which normally grows with 4-10 ratoons, before returning to crop cycle. Bananas grow successfully on many soil types, but the soil should be mechanically loose, to avail high aeration of the roots. Preferred pH 5–7.5, but pH can be as low as 4.0 without liming, where exchangeable Al is low, or up to pH 8.5 where potential TE deficiencies are well controlled. Bananas have a very high water requirement. Best banana mineral nutrition regime includes the use CRFs, fertigation with fully-soluble fertilizers, and foliar feeding that can be combined with anti- Black-Sigatoka sprays.
